A TRUE hero for GOD values ALL human Life.

It took only two generations of human existence for the first murder to be committed after we inherited our sinful nature from Adam. Shocking... right?! But if you know anything about sin, it's actually not surprising. Sin is wickedly deceitful. Anger and unkind thoughts, for instance, can quickly turn into something much worse if left unchecked. 

Let's take a look at the tragic story of Cain and Abel. Abel had so much promise, so much to live for. Sin was changing the world around him for the worse, but he took a stand of righteousness.  Having trusted in his Creator, he chose to follow God rather than live as he pleased. Then, in one swift act of fury, Cain took his life. Cain's terrible deed was an attack on God's image. 

The Bible says all humans are created in God's image. Genesis 1:27 That makes us different from anything else God created. Other mammals, birds, and fish weren't created in God's image. Neither were trees or mountains or nature...only people. To be made in God's image means to be like God. That doesn't mean we're identical to God. He is holy, all-knowing, all-powerful, and present everywhere. We are not. But we share certain characteristics. Like God, we can speak, reason, love, and show creativity. (this world wey we dey, e hard gan o, na only God fit help o, lol) Translation: In the world we live in today, it is very hard, But by the grace/ help of God(Holy Spirit) we can. 

If we humbly turn from our sinful nature through faith, God will help us. This is actually also living as a true hero for God. As God's image bearers, we represent God and are more special to him than anything else he created. Can you now understand why what Cain did was so terrible? Abel, like you and I, was God's image bearer, and Cain destroyed him.

Knowing that we are made in God's image should affect how we treat others. A true hero for God values all human life because humans are God's representatives. If you treat someone badly, you are attacking God's image. One way or the other we have all attacked God's image in the way we treat each other.

Game Plan: Acknowledge the fact that you have attacked God's image one way or the other numerous times

Ask for forgiveness

Act: begin to honor God in all human life. The world will be a better one!

God’s Great LOVE

Think about the most beautiful places on earth: Maui, Tahiti, The Bahamas,The French Riviera etc. 

Now imagine a place a thousand times better and beautiful because of the fact that God himself carefully created it for Adam and Eve….Garden of Eden. 

Adam and Eve… well we can’t be too hard on them, because we would have messed up too. Ever since this original sin, we’ve all sinned. Sin is breaking God’s  laws, and the Bible says that we are all sinners (Romans 3:23). In fact , we were born into sin.(Psalm 51:5).

We inherited a sinful nature from Adam. From the moment we step  into the world, our natural tendency is to shake our fists at our Creator and say, “I don’t want to follow your rules. Leave me alone!” LOL.

That’s not only foolish of us, it’s downright wicked! Being just and holy,God could have chosen to destroy us. He could have thought, You know what? These people aren’t worth my time. I made them and gave them everything they need, and now they’re rebelling against me. Time to wipe them out. POW and that would be it! 

But God didn’t do that! Rather than react in angry justice, God chose to show us undeserved love and mercy by providing a path of salvation. He did that by sending his perfect Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins. 

Let’s be thankful and Praise the name of the Lord that he gave us exactly what we needed, not what we deserved! I wouldn’t have made this day to send this post anyway😅

I have a question, does it make sense to reject a solution (Jesus Christ)  God presented to us for the problem we created?!! Adam…We?!  LOL

Think about this and do the needful. Read Ephesians 2:1-10, it would become clear to you what God has done for us through Christ.

It doesn’t make sense to QUIT!

 1 Corinthians 15:58

So, my dear brothers, since future victory is sure, be strong and steady, always abounding in the Lord’s work, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever wasted as it would be if there were no resurrection. 

Paul encouraged the church to keep its commitment to serve the Lord by reminding them that nothing they did for the Lord was ever wasted. 

Remain faithful to the tasks God has given you. No matter what struggles you /we face in this life! As Christ followers, it doesn’t make sense to quit! Why? 

This is the reason….“future victory is sure”. Take note of “future”. If it looks like you are not winning now.

Gain The Whole World and then What?…..

 “And how does a man benefit if he gains the whole world and loses his soul in the process? Sigh…BIG question.

For is anything worth more than his soul? I’d like to hear from you. Please drop a line or two in the comment box. 😊

Jesus speaking here: “And anyone who is ashamed of me and my message in these days of unbelief and sin, I the Messiah, will be ashamed of him when I return in the glory of my Father, with the holy angels.”

Take some time out of your busy schedule to ponder on this beloved.  We (you and i) must put aside our pleasures, carry our cross and follow Jesus closely. 

It is not what we want to hear or like to hear. But perhaps it is how God works in this world. You have to put off your own ways and follow God’s.

FAITH…Scripture Via Art 5 of 75

By faith, by believing God- we know that the world and the stars, in fact , all things were made at God’s command; and that they were all made  from things that can’t be seen.

It was by faith that Abel obeyed God and brought an offering that pleased God more than Cain’s offering did. God accepted Abel and proved it by accepting his gift; and though Abel is long dead, we can still learn lessons from him about trusting God. 

Enoch trusted God too, and that is why God took him away to heaven without dying. Before this happened, God had said how pleased he was with Enoch. 

NOTE: One can never please God without faith, without depending on him for everything. Anyone who wants to come to God must believe that there is God and that he rewards those who sincerely look for him.

 

For you to ever think of giving your life to Christ. You need to even believe, you must believe that He exists. Sincerely seeking him becomes super easy and trust follows. Your walk with Him, (if you sincerely walk with him), your thoughts will shift towards your real home in heaven. You will begin to live for heaven! You will become kingdom -minded. 

Live everyday with your thoughts fixed on God…on Heaven. Look forward to your real home in heaven. 

Earth is not our real home, we are visitors, visiting on a mission for God.

Fishers of Men...Scripture Via Art 4 of 75

Matthew 4:19

Jesus called out, “Come along with me and I will show you how to fish for the souls of men!”

Verse 20- And they left their nets at once and went with him. 

This is apt! as the theme for this month (June) at the URC Family is “Soul Winning”.  I’d like to urge you to join us this month to win souls. But first, are you saved? Do you acknowledge that Jesus died for you to pay the price for your sins? 

Refer to the previous post titled- “I Will Give You Rest” for steps to accept Jesus #OpenInvitation. 

This is another Open Invitation. He is calling to show you how to fish for souls of men! To be part of His Work. 

Having read this short message, are you willing to live out Verse 20? Are you going to leave your old ways at ONCE and go with Jesus? (Accept HIM) and help others accept him? 

Think about it carefully. It is the way forward and ONLY way to enter the kingdom of GOD. 

Jesus is the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE.

I Will Give You Rest...Scripture Via Art 3 of 75

 Matthew 11: 28-30

“Come to me and I will give you rest- all of you who work so hard beneath a heavy yoke.

Wear my yoke- for it fits perfectly- let me teach you; for I am gentle and humble, and you shall find rest for your souls ; for I give you only light  burdens”.

This is an open invitation from Jesus. ACCEPT IT. 

Wondering how? .......Simple!

1. Admit you are a sinner (Romans 3:10)

2. Be willing to turn from sin. This is what the word repent means. (Acts 17:30)

3. Believe that Jesus Christ died for you, that He was buried and rose again from the dead to pay the price for your sins. (Romans 10:9-10)

4. Pray and invite Jesus into your heart as your Lord and Savior. (Romans 10:13)

Day 2...Scripture Through Art (Late Post )

Now to the message...do you know what matters the most in life? That a person has Jesus Christ. 

Do you know that been chosen by God does not only mean that one has been called to serve? The fact that you are alive and and in the LIGHT, then you have a new kind of life because of God’s deep love and concern for you, you are chosen!

Because if this, you should practice tenderhearted mercy and kindness to others. Don’t worry about making a good impression on them, but be ready to suffer quietly and patiently. Be gentle and ready to forgive; never hold grudges. Remember , the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. 

Most of all, let love guide your life , for then the whole church will stay together in perfect harmony. Let the peace of heart that comes from Christ be always present in your hearts and lives, for this is your responsibility and privilege as members of his body. And always be thankful. 

Remember what Christ taught, and let his words enrich your lives and make you wise ;teach them to each other and sing them out in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, singing to the Lord with thankful hearts. 

And whatever you do or say, let it be as a representative of the Lord Jesus, and come with him into the presence of God the Father to give him your thanks.

Colossians 12-17

It’s simple and straightforward , and deals with everyday feelings. Let God be your guide. Think about it, read it daily, act on it! It’ll become your second nature. Ultimately ask God to help you. But first...you need to make that move. ACT.

The WORD via Art! Day 1

I will be sharing the truth of God's WORD through artworks created by www.godsfingerprintss.co , one per day for 75 days. 

In my previous post, I mentioned that I ordered a unique piece of artwork; a hand-drawn fingerprint made of one verse from every verse of the bible. The order gave me access to 75 free artwork and designs that highlight different truth from the scripture.

Without question, the greatest quest is seeking God. People seek God in different ways and for different reasons. Throughout the scriptures, we see people seeking God through sacrifice, prayer and ultimately, through Jesus Christ. God loves and seeks worshippers who sincerely seek HIM, humble themselves, acknowledge, confess and repent of their sins, seek HIS forgiveness, actively obey HIS commands, love HIM with all their heart, soul, strength, and mind. 

Seeking God is not something we try once or twice. It requires commitment, diligence, endurance, and perseverance. If you can achieve the above in our jobs, with difficult bosses, adverse societal conditions etc, Then we can seek GOD.

God's Fingerprint

The bible is all about God and we must always take note of HIS fingerprint everywhere; in the scripture and in our world. Take a walk on a cool afternoon and notice the fingerprints of God in His creation; Watch some people in your life and be alert to to see the fingerprints of God in them. And even daily as you live, notice how God is with you and how it will help you to trust Him  more. 

You will soon realize (if you haven't) that you(we) are a walking masterpiece of God's creativity, perfection, and love. HIS fingerprints are all over our beings and identify us as HIS very own! 

I saw the unique piece of artwork below, with one verse from every book of the Bible!. Each verse is hand-drawn within a fingerprint on a thick fine art paper. I couldn't resist ordering one! especially because I realized my purchase will help support discipleship programs for some orphans and vulnerable children.

Each line of the fingerprint is a different verse of Scripture. Every book of the Bible is represented in between.

Now my question.. DO you know the Word?(Jesus). You can't know the word(Jesus) without the word (Scripture).

Psalms 66, 98, 100 re: Q2 2021 Worship Habit

Psalm 66 :1-2 

1.Sing to the Lord, all the earth! 

2.Sing of his glorious name! Tell the world how wonderful He is

Psalm 98:1 

1.Sing a new song to the Lord telling about His mighty deeds! For He has won a mighty victory by His power and holiness.

Psalm 100: 1 

1.Shout with joy before the Lord, O earth! Obey Him gladly; come before Him, singing with joy.

Besides the fact that the psalm provides the expression of praise, worship and confession to God, do you notice what the beginning of each psalm reads? Sing... Sing... Shout with Joy!!! note: there may be variance due to  different versions of the Bible. But all commands Praise... Worship... Exalt God! 

As we begin a new month and a new quarter in 2021, with a grateful heart, worship your Maker in all the ways you can. Did you know that rain showers, blossoming trees, rainbows, ocean waves and nature generally provides worship opportunities? This month always look out for opportunities to worship. When you see a rainbow, Worship... when it rains, Worship.... when you are taking a walk ... Worship, when you are on that cruise ship!, Worship. 

The Bible tells us the rivers clap, the mountains sing, and people shout and make music. Swing into the Worship Habit this new month if you are not yet guilty of it. Refocus life to the ultimate purpose we were created. We exist to see and savor the worth and greatness of God in every sphere of our lives. 1 Corinthians 10:31 sends a strong signal to me that all I do must 'worship' God! 

My Mom (not biological) but I call her Mom 😇, talked about how just taking a walk in a park appreciating God's Work is glorifying God- worshipping God for how great and awesome He is. It is a recommendation from her through the Holy Spirit as a way to spend quality time with God everyday and on special days; as the Sabbath. 

When do you observe the Sabbath Day? This will be saved for another time, but we will discuss the Sabbath Day soon.

What do people or your family, especially your children see and hear from you? Does it include Worship? Are you a motivation for people around you to worship God?

Psalm 121....

NKJV Psalm 121:1-8

1 I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help? 

2 My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. 

3 He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber.

4 Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep. 

5 The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand. 6 The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night. 

7 The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. 

8 The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore.

This morning I was reminded of God's constant care and concern by someone very precious to me. She reminded me that no amount of security measures we put in place can keep us safe except the ONE that neither sleep nor slumber. GOD! 

Likewise, unless the Lord builds a house, the builders' work is useless. Unless the Lord protects a city, sentries do no good. 

Psalm 127:1 

Isn't this a pointer that we should commit every and any thing to GOD. Again, commit everything to him and go ahead taking action/s. Yes go ahead to install burglar alarms, sign up for self-defense classes etc. one of numerous instances.... Do what you can to protect your family; then commit them to God, knowing that He has them in the palm of His hand. He is a greater security system, our all-powerful Maker who NEVER sleeps. 

This should be our confidence. Which chapter/s and verses of the book of Psalm is /are your favorite and why?

While I was taking a screen break, my son asked me a question. Mom, why do people have to get married? I was so glad to read directly from Mark 10:6-7 to him as a background of my answer. I also liked the fact that my answer was based on God's Word. His question also confirmed today's post as initially laid in my heart  by the Holy Spirit.

Mom, why did God create us?

I was in the kitchen preparing for dinner when my son came to me with this question; Mom why did God create us?. I painted a picture in his mind about how weird it would be if a king built an empire and has to live in it all by himself. And another, a very wealthy farmer with a big farm with no animals or farmers to cultivate the land. I quickly clarified how we can't compare God to these two men and again; he should picture all God created in the first 5 days without  caregivers.....man

Try to realize what this means.. The Lord is God! He made us, we are His people, the sheep of His pasture Psalm 100:3

God is Lord over all, and we are privileged to be His people. We can know Him. We can love Him. We can live with Him, talk with Him, and enjoy His presence. The delight of being a Christian is not in what God can do for us or give us, but in knowing Him as a person.

Preparing for heaven starts with turning from sin and seeking God's forgiveness through Christ. The next step is to get to know God better each day.

Bible study is the best way to know God better. Prayer and meditation is another way, of course, but the study of the Word is most basic. Through the word, we understand who God is and what He asks of us. Through prayer, we cultivate a an intimate relationship with our Creator and Lord.  The life-changing truths of the Word and prayer work together to bring us closer to Him.

Now, here is the question. Do you have a relationship with God? Why do you worship God?

Breakfast with JESUS...John 21:12

The Lord revealed John 21:12 to one of my sisters on the eve of Christmas (2020) amongst a group of other wonderful sisters in Christ. It was right on time to pray to have breakfast with Jesus on His Birthday. We prayed earnestly to have an intimate encounter with Jesus on Christmas Morning. I heard in my spirit...few minutes to 5am meet me for breakfast. I was super excited and set my alarm to wake me up at 4.40am to prepare for breakfast with Jesus!. 

I think I hear you saying, "how did it go?" 😊 

I'd summarize it....great feeling, worship and the word. 

John 21:12-16

12 Now come and have some breakfast! Jesus said; and none of us dared ask him if he really was the Lord, for we were quite sure of it. 13 Then Jesus went around serving us the bread and fish 14 This was the third time Jesus had appeared to us since his return from the dead. 15 After breakfast Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than others?" "Yes," Peter replied. "you know I am your friend". "Then feed my lambs," Jesus told him. 16 Jesus repeated the same question "Simon, son of John, do you really love me?" "Yes Lord," Peter said, "you know I am your friend" "Then take care of my sheep" Jesu said.

Reading the whole chapter gives a clear background of Jesus' invitation to breakfast. Jesus tells the fishermen, “Bring me some of the fish you caught.”  The six disciples just spent all night catching nothing until Jesus provided them the miraculous catch. Then, Jesus tells the disciples to bring their fish to him.

This is how Jesus engages with humanity. He wants us to bring him our fish, our gifts, our time, and our faith...think of anything you can give back to Jesus. In reality, all of our gifts belong to Christ, and he asks us to bring them to him. When we do, he will take them, bless them, break them, and give them back; we are having breakfast with Jesus! Simple.

 If you did this in the past, present and will in future, you had breakfast with Jesus, you are having breakfast with Jesus and you will continue to have breakfast with Jesus! One more thing you need to know, want to have breakfast with Jesus? You will need to bring your “own” fish! 

Have you made a decision you will always have breakfast with Jesus? Don't miss any opportunity to have breakfast with Jesus for ANYTHING in this world. Get at it now, will you?...Thank You

Paul's Letter...The Summary

 Hello Friends,

Today, let's look  into Paul's letter to the Philippians. He wrote the letter as recorded in Philippians Chapter 4 Verse 1 to 20 to thank the Philippians for the gift they had sent him and to strengthen them by showing them that true joy comes from Jesus Christ Alone. Paul was in a Roman prison at the time he wrote the letter.

PHILIPPIANS 4:1-20 (please read the whole letter when you can)

Focusing on verse 4-8

4 Always be FULL of joy in the Lord; I say it again, rejoice!   5 Let EVERYONE see that you are unselfish and considerate in all you do. Remember that the Lord is coming soon.   6 Don't  worry about ANYTHING; instead, pray about EVERYTHING; tell God your needs, and don't forget to thank him for his answers.   7 If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep  your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus.   8 And now brothers, as I close this letter, let me say this one more thing: fix your thoughts on what is true and good and right. Think about all you can praise God for and be glad about.

Back to verse 7. I can relate this verse to a Mom saying to her child, child if you do this, you would get this and that from Dad and Mom! 

This has given room to think about the attributes of the Lord's commands or word's commands  as warning to those who hear them and great reward for those who obey them.  In verse 8 ,Paul challenged the Philippians to refine their thinking; to think about the pure ways of Christ. I sense you are thinking about how to counter the bombardment of unholy ideas and images that could slip into our minds each day as a result of the world we live in today! It takes our conscious effort and the help of GOD! 

Focus your thoughts on the pure ways of Christ by reading the bible, memorizing scriptures, carefully choose what you watch, read and listen to …etc. If you think it is difficult, I have a question,(now this applies to the people who truly follow instructions).   

Here is the question- how are you able to consciously take precautions during this pandemic? When you go out you wear your mask, follow social distancing, you don't go to parties even when you wish you could, never forget to use hand sanitizer to mention a few. All these require conscious and extra effort! All actions as described above was bore out of your thoughts of how try as much as you can to  prevent catching the bug. You can as well with keeping your thoughts fixed on what is true, good and right consciously by yourself and with God's Help . Think about it.

At the calm of the night, I picked up my phone to do a few catch up with social media. The first photo I saw on my Instagram feed posed a question “Do you know this person? I hit the following button and I began to unfollow people I thought I really do not need to be following. It immediately triggered another question, what are the things you need to unfollow in your walk with GOD? unfollow a friend to follow GOD, it is worth it! Unfollow the world to follow Jesus...thumbs up! Pride? Doubt? The list is endless.

Make your unfollow list today, identify at least one in all aspects of your life…spiritual, physical, Health, mental, emotional, financial, romance, family, business/career, social. ask for help from the Holy Spirit. All the best as you “Unfollow” to Follow Jesus. If you’d like to share your top two on your unfollow list item, please drop in the comment box.

After all the preparation...it's over

Hello Friends,

It's been a family tradition for years to exchange gifts on Christmas day. 2020, While I prepared for the Gift Exchange, I searched for inexpensive and useful gifts when I stumbled upon  Eternal Light Co. , a Christian brand that provides products, services, and an experience that brings glory to GOD.

Fast forward, I ordered 7 tees from their store with lovely faith phrases and didn't unsubscribe from their mailing list. On December 26, 2020 I received an email from the owner of the store. Many on their mailing list definitely would have received it too. Read email below. Think about it and take actions.

Hello ,

This email was not on my schedule, and it's unplanned and unpolished. I'm literally spilling out my personal thoughts as I'm sitting here finishing off a cup of hot chocolate in our living room. (By the way, it looks like a tornado came through here from all the Christmas celebration)

As you probably know, we have a 7 month old girl named Presley which is our first baby, and this is her first Christmas. We spent so much time making sure it would go "perfect". You know... kind of like the picture they paint on those hallmark movies.

 So much time picking out the perfect gifts, decorating the house, planning out the food, wrapping presents, capturing the perfect pictures, scheduling all the family stops..... ehhh it's just stressful thinking about all of it.

 And it's all over within just a few hours.  I got to think about all the things in life we spend so much time preparing for, and it's over just like that.

 I know that this is a subject that is shied away from, but there is one thing in life that we prepare for that isn't like that, and that is where we are going to spend eternity. And there is only two options and that is Heaven and Hell.

 I'm not sending this email to preach at anyone, because I have so many areas in my life that need improvements. This was really just a personal thought and reminder that I decided to share.

 I just want you to remind you that how we live our life and prepare matters. We aren't preparing for something that is going to be over in just a few hours, we are preparing for eternity.

 We will never regret living for Jesus.
